  1. A degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

An applicant who has graduated from an approved nursing educational program within the past 12 months may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse within 6 months of appointment.

They must possess strong verbal communication skills in order to exchange technical medical information with other medical professionals, explain procedures to inmates, and convey information concisely and effectively to others both internal and external to the organization. 4.Psychiatric Nurses must be able to document all pertinent patient information in medical charts, complete written documentation to be included in patient files and transcribe, review and execute physician's orders. They must possess strong written communication skills in order to produce effective written documentation on patient medical needs and services required.
