* 3.Do you have recent work experience or formal training working with and repairing auxiliary machinery and marine equipment (generators with diesel engines, deck winches, windlasses or capstans, gravity davits, pumps, boilers, desalinators, and refrigeration)?
  1. I have performed duties necessary for the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of fuel oil, fresh water pumps and auxiliaries. I have oiled, greased and repaired deck machinery, such as, but not limited to cargo winches, davits, capstans, anchor windlass and lifeboat engines.
  2. I have performed work necessary for the proper operation, maintenance of pumps, bilge and fire pumps. I have packed and adjusted glands; packed lubricated, adjusted, and cleaned pumps and strainers.
  3. I have assisted in performing maintenance on water pumps; greasing bearings; cleaning strainers; checking for water leaks, and installing new gaskets when needed.
  4. I have not had experience in performing most of these tasks.


* 4.Do you have experience on the critical and preventive maintenance of marine engineering systems? (This may include hands-on experience, on-the-job training, and formal training).

I have performed troubleshooting, operations, maintenance, repairs and overhauls on machinery such as purifiers, brominators, Marine Sanitation Devices, vacuum collection systems, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps and/or evaporators. I have shipboard experience using some modules of common engineering programs such as SAMM, VMS, GLAS, SHIPCLIP, SM5, or AMOS.
  2. I have experience in troubleshooting, operating, maintaining and repairing equipment such as purifiers, brominators, Marin Sanitation Devices, salt water circulating pumps, and fire pumps.
  3. I have participated/assisted in troubleshooting, operating, maintaining and repairing equipment found in engine department.
  4. I have not had experience in performing most of these tasks.

  2. I have assigned unlicensed engine department personnel to specific duties, monitored work in progress and evaluated completed work. I have maintained equipment and made entries in accordance with SAMM.
  3. I have assisted in the repair and maintenance of the engine department and successfully completed a course to develop supervisory skills.
