Grade: 11
* 1.You must meet the minimum basic education and/or experience requirements for professional engineer positions in the Federal government. Select the response that best describes your education and/or experience.
  1. Bachelor's or higher degree in professional engineering where the completed professional engineering curriculum was from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
  2. Bachelor's degree in professional engineering where the completed curriculum included differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: statics, dynamics; strength of materials; fluid mechanics, hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; nature and properties of materials; and any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
  3. Combination of relevant professional engineering education and experience as evidenced by current registration as a professional engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  4. Combination of relevant professional engineering education and experience as evidenced by having successfully passed the Engineering-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the written test required for professional registration as administered by the Board of Engineering Examiners in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
  5. Combination of relevant professional engineering education and experience as evidenced by having successfully completed 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the specified courses as listed above.
  6. Combination of relevant professional engineering education and experience as evidenced by having successfully completed a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field (e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology), PLUS at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
  7. I do not meet any of the education and/or combination of education and experience under any of the choices above.


* 2.GS-11 You must meet the basic qualifications for the GS-11 grade level. You may meet the basic qualifications for the GS-11with a combination of education and/or experience. Select the choice which best describes your education and/or experience.
  1. I have a Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree.
  2. I have three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph. D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree.
  3. I have a combination of experience and education above the graduate level that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
  4. I have one (1) full year of specialized experience at the next lower level as defined on the vacancy announcement.
  5. I do not meet any of the above statements.


Grade: 12

  1. I have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the next lower grade level as described in the vacancy announcement under the specialized experience requirements.
