Summary
You will serve as a Highway Safety Specialist and under the supervision of the Regional Administrator (RA) and Deputy Regional Administrator (DRA), Region 6. The regional office has regional responsibility for developing, improving, and overseeing traffic safety programs, including those aimed at increasing safety belt and child restraint use and reducing the incidence of impaired driving, along with other programs that reduce traffic crashes, deaths, injuries, and property damage. You will provide technical and administrative leadership to States, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), and communities in formulating, developing, managing, and evaluating the strategic highway safety programs. Under direction and guidance from the RA/DRA, you will implement strategies and programs and disseminate materials, and information for use by states, communities, and advocacy organizations to support traffic safety programs.

Also, you will be responsible for providing guidance on highway safety activities within the States and BIA involving Federal grant funds. With the assistance of the RA and DRA, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in the preparation of the State(s) Highway Safety Plan (HSP) and conducting, financial management, grants monitoring and oversight activities.

NHTSA is looking for an experienced employee who has excellent communication skills. Experience management of federal grants, conducting state program management reviews, data analysis and problem identification, project and management planning, program administration and evaluation and problem identification is a plus also.
