* 1.Knowledge of best practices for the preservation of collection materials. **Applied knowledge of preservation techniques to provide for the long-term preservation of collection materials
  1. Performed procedures required for completing GENERAL preservation treatments, such as: constructing book spines, recasing, paper repair, creating and editing facsimiles, paper dry-cleaning, and constructing custom enclosures for books, paper, photographs or other library media.
  2. Performed procedures required for completing INTERMEDIATE preservation treatments, such as: text-block sewing, board reattachment, adhesive binding, constructing new cases, text-block rounding and backing, humidification and flattening, and designing custom enclosures for books, paper, photographs, or other library media.
  3. Performed procedures required for completing BASIC preservation treatments, such as: page tip-ins, hinge tightening, paper repair, opening text-block leaves, producing labels, pamphlet binding, pocketing, sleeving and foldering, and removing staples from books, paper, photographs or other library media.

  1. Operated and maintained AT LEAST SIX of the specialized library equipment listed above to perform duties associated with the preservation of collection materials.
  2. Operated and assisted in the maintenance of standard library equipment (e.g. book presses or board shears) in the preservation of collection materials.
  3. and maintained FOUR to FIVE of the specialized library equipment listed above to perform duties associated with the preservation of collection materials.

Has applied BROAD knowledge of library processes and procedures in a large or specialized library (e.g.: maintained arrangement of, searched, transported, requested and retrieved collection materials, provided library services within a multi-tiered institution, and/or provided customer assistance).
