The principal focus of this position is analyzing and supporting financial operations, procurement/contracting, and human capital needs. The Operations Specialist (OS) is responsible for executing, monitoring and tracking the unit's budget reporting and analyzing financial data reconciling accounts certifying/obligating funds; and managing small contracts. The OS provides assistance to the Divisions/Directorates on human capital related needs and on space management issues. As an Operations Specialist, you will:
Forecast and allocate support (e.g., money, staff, resources) for a Division's projects or initiatives;
Plan and conduct complex analytical studies of program operations in the areas of human capital, procurement/contracting, finance/budget, information technology, facilities and space management etc.;
Run queries to monitor the progress of projects and anticipate any issues (e.g., lack of resources, funding);
Stay abreast of new information technology and administrative support systems (e.g., records, equipment inventories, communications and documentation of data and reports) to improve the efficiency of administrative support and/or program operations and procedures;
Contribute to various HR practices (e.g., staffing planning, recruitment, personnel processing, space and account access, training);
Recommend changes or improvements in organization, staffing, work methods, and procedures based on results from studies on employee/organizational analyses; and
Serve as the Division's chief administrative liaison for the Division Director and Program Support Manager, other organizations within NSF, other Federal agencies and the scientific community.
