Serves as Deputy Office Head and a member of the leadership team of the Office of International and Integrative Activities (OIIA). The Office works across disciplinary and geographic boundaries to lead and coordinate strategic programs and opportunities that: advance research excellence and innovation; develop human and infrastructure capacity critical to the U.S. science and engineering enterprise; and promote global engagement of scientists and engineers at all career stages.
The Deputy Office Head partners with the Office Head in providing leadership and direction to OIIA. Assists the Office Head in carrying out Office-wide responsibilities such as strategic planning and management, performance appraisals, budget preparation for submission to congress, staff recruitment and supervision, and oversees the competitive review of proposals for awards and declinations. Represents NSF to relevant external groups and fosters partnerships with other Divisions, Directorates, Federal agencies, scientific organizations and the academic community at large. The Deputy Office Head assumes the Office Head role in the absence of the Office Head.
