Specialized experience may include independently conducting, and/or serving as a team leader, and/or trainer for marine inspections on cruise ships. Act as subject matter expert and repository of best practices. Verify the existence of proper documentation, navigation, lifesaving, firefighting, machinery, electrical systems, pollution prevention systems, the soundness and acceptable parameters of vessel structures and hulls; identifying hazardous conditions and violation and prescribing corrective measures in accordance with accepted international conventions. Evaluating and verifying crew competency with the STCW code. Participate in the administration and delivery of the Advanced Foreign Passenger Examiner’s course and specified exportable training. Evaluate Safety Management Systems and coordinate with cruise ship stakeholders including company management, classification societies, and ship’s officers to resolve complex and unique safety/security/environmental issues that have an impact on the cruise ship industry. Applicants must also show experience in providing technical expertise and training to junior inspectors, providing input to program planning; and writing analytical reports.
